A shame indeed Frank had to see the sale after being so fiercely independent for so long, but hopefully he was also able to see it as the beginning of better days.

For anyone interested, the Williams documentary on Netflix is well worth a watch, and isn't afraid of showing Frank and the team as they really were, the good and bad.

I second this recommendation. The part with Jonathan Williams was...poignant.

I would also strongly reccomend anyone new(ish) to F1 to take a look into the saga surrounding William's brilliant non-electric KERS system - puts a very different perspective on their current place on the grid.

Edit: Chainbear has a great video:

I would also strongly recommend taking a look at the TV presenter in Jeddah, Sabine Sassine

RIP Sir Frank Williams. I don’t think there’s been a more iconic figure in F1 ownership other than Enzo Ferrari.

The interesting thing is, with Bruce Mclaren and Colin Chapman no longer with us either, our winningest living team boss is….Christian Horner
Ron Dennis is still alive and is arguably as successful as anyone else in F1

Bearing in mind he was prepared to have equal drivers and let the best man win.

Like Horner he had to build the team from scratch and not just "buy the World Champions"

Well the main difference with Williams and Dennis, is that Williams actually founded the his team from scratch.

But I do not deny Dennis' success after he took over McLaren in the 1980's.

I would like to add Sir Jack Brabham as well in terms of iconic.

Only person to win the World Championship in his own car which obviously will never be achieved again.

If they’ve worked out that they’re not beating Mercedes again without some kind of upgrade, then it’s all they can do to concede Jeddah and set up a winner take all showdown on Yas Island…

McLaren were really struggling when Ron Dennis took charge, he transformed the team and totally rebuilt it

Mercedes basically bought out 2009 World Champions Brawn!!!

A younger Ron Dennis when he was a Brabham Mechanic ?
