I thought this might be the case. STR is going to work on the Honda engine next year, and it will go to RBR the season after.

Did McLaren just fuck up? I have a feeling the engine will finally come around.

That was my reaction too. But the conditions Red Bull sign with Honda would be very different than what McLaren agreed to. When McLaren signed the deal, no one knew Honda would be in over their heads. Red Bull knows so can demand Honda recruit/partner with who they need to to make progress. I don't think McLaren had any leverage to do that before or during the relationship.

However, if the McLaren chassis is as good as some say it is, all they need is a decent engine to be possibly fighting for podiums a la Red Bull today.

McLaren sowed the seeds of Honda's failure with their insistence on "size zero" power unit packaging. That wasn't Honda's design concept, but McLaren insisted. I don't think that Honda is likely to turn into a world beater, but they will likely at least get to respectable.

    Crazy talk from Honda:

"It is our goal to overcome this tough challenge and get back to fighting the frontrunners of the sport, and Honda's spirit is to come back and next year our goal is to fight for the top three at the top of the grid."

In 2018? With Toro Rosso? Madness.

What do you expect him to say? Our goal is to not be the worst engine next year or maybe our goal is to not be complete shit.

"We hope to score points at every race and step onto the podium."

    It's bullish, but not risible.

Well. Vettel had no one but himself to blame for that. Complete snooze after the first ten seconds.

Yeah crazy he would battle it out so fiercly with his championship rival well behind him. Especially when he would be granted Kimi's position at some point.

That was a horrible first corner, really dumb by Vettel, who claims he "moved over slightly", and took out 3 win contenders and Alonso.

In addition to that, it looks like he's gifted Hamilton the championship, especially at the race he really needed to win.

Shitty and boring race after the first corner. How Red Bull, who were faster than Merc all weekend, couldn't present any form of challenge escapes me.

According to RBR, Ricciardo had transmission trouble from early in the race.
