Which minor deity did Hamilton piss off? The guy has the worst luck on the grid this year.

I cheered like a school girl when Hamilton (lapped) passed Vettel. Awesome stuff.

Also, glad to see Vettel was penalized for passing off track. Called that immediately.

Ha ha, he was all pissed at Hamilton too.

I used to think Vettel was a nice kid but more and more I realize he's a bitch.

I think Vettel's penalty was influenced by the FIA's frustration at being unable to address Red Bull's throttle-mapping tactics.

FIA says that the throttle map reduces torque in the midrange which has a traction-control effect and also, some believe, an effect similar to exhaust-blown diffusers (which were banned for this year). They're cheating, but doing so in a manner which is not explicitly proscribed by the rules and not subject to the discretion of the stewards. I respect the creativity and lateral thinking that RB does consistently, though.

Or maybe the fact he ran off the road to make an overtaking move stick?

I don't believe exploiting loopholes is cheating. I actually respect the ingenuity. The FIA will close it up in no time though.

We do not disagree, but there has been a lot of off-track adventuring since the paved runoff has become prevalent, and this is the first time in my recollection that such a penalty has been issued. Note that the reg refers to gaining an advantage, not just passing. I recall a certain Kimi Raikonnen's excursion at Spa which allowed him to continue where in the past he would have been been in the wall or beached. I used to be enthusiastic about this change in the tracks, but now I think the stakes are too low for going off so the drivers are taking some ridiculous chances.

Nah I think 2003 was better. Some fantastic story lines and behind the pack recoveries minus DRS assist.

Couldnt agree more. Its too easy. And Maldonado wouldnt have hit hamilton if there was grass or gravel.

We need a penalty for the behavior. If all 4 wheels cross the white line: no DRS for 1 race distance, no KERS for a race distance, 5 place grid penalty for each infraction, stop and go (not thru the pits, though), give up a place regardless of how far behind P-next is.

There needs to be a risk. It doesnt have to be danger. Time is just as effective.
