I have to say it would have been a very different race if it were wet.

FOX is showing the race right now. I'm not sure who they are fooling with the commercial breaks that the result hasn't been announced hours ago.

About as good a result as Hamilton could have hoped for given his performance. Would have been better if Vettel had been able to get Alonso.

    Maldonado is a crasher.

Grosjean has no one but himself to blame, but a nice recovery.

I don't understand at all why McLaren had Hamilton run such a short stint on the softs, especially as a middle stint. If they were going to run 23 laps on the second set of hards, they should have done it in the middle so that he could be on the softs and fast when everyone else was slowing down. They need to hire Pat Symonds to run their pit strategy.

judging from alonso in Canada and here, the softs seem to degrade very sharply on a low fuel load/lighter car
at the end all the faster guys were on the harder tires correct?

I thought the same, hamilton should have done a few more laps, but was loosing time

They softs were awful here, everyone struggled with them. Its the reason that Alonso built that lead early. Hamilton just didnt have the pace or he would be have nose to tail with Alonso the whole race. Alonso stopped too early. I said that to myself as soon as I saw him duck into the pits.

What was your take? I thought Maldonado moved his car right to squeeze perez. I think the talk of understeer is bullshit. He tried to pinch Perez and ran out of talent. He's reckless.

thought the same, too soon for alonso, and should have done the softs in the middle stint for a short run, 20/12/20, or until pace fell off
from the F1 commentary it looks like hamilton started on the hards, only he and alonso in the top 10
weber should have got alonso within the first 5 laps, after tat, tires were shot, and alonso comming into their own

maldomado is too agressive. that track is wide in most spots, no need to squeeze someone out
no doubt massive pressure, the speed, the risk of keeping your job, but controlling it is a big part of the skill set

the one thing I wish they would add to the F1 live timing is the tire they are on

Maldonado had two wheels up on the kerb and lost traction. You could see him countersteering to catch the slide. He didn't steer into Perez intentionally, he just failed to recognize that he couldn't carry that kind of speed around the corner on his chosen line.

    He's a crasher.

I dont see usage of curbs here. Notice the replay, he steers right... and it didnt look like opposite lock to control a slide, the car was tracking. What it does look like is an attempt to pinch Perez. I could be mistaken but I have watched enough F1 to see the difference between a guy losing control and a guy losing control because he cant handle losing a position.

Happened about a week ago, but thoughts on Webber staying at Red Bull?

I like it. He's almost proving more valuable than Seb so far this year.

Edit: and let's get some more speculation going about who's replacing Massa.

I think Massa will stay at Ferrari for one more year.

Webber is the perfect number two driver.
