For someone with my build, what would you suggest for the fastening point on the jacket and where the trousers sit?

I am 5'7"-7.5" and around 145-155 lbs (weight fluctuates).

I have a slim-athletic build and my torso is shorter compared to my legs (long legs).

I've been re-reading on suits and came across this article that talks about how the button point/fastening point on a jacket should be at the narrowest part of the torso. In my case it is at the navel/belly button.

Should the buttoning point for my suit jacket be at the belly button based on my build?

In addition to this, should my pants sit right at the same spot?

It appears the pants for this man sits at his navel/narrowest part of this torso and his buttoning point is at the same spot. I'm not sure if it's old fashioned though and will make me look too long "legged"

Trousers sitting at natural waist (high rise I'm assuming) and buttoning point at the same spot

Or should my trousers sit a bit lower? These look like midrise to me.

Buttoning point of the jacket you’re wearing looks fine to me. As the article says, should be at your natural waist. The jacket looks like it fits you well.

As for the trouser rise, the key is that you’re not seeing any shirt under your jacket button when the jacket is closed. I personally find it more comfortable to wear trousers that sit over the tops of my hips, and that happens to be at my natural waist as well. IMO nobody will notice high-waisted trousers under a jacket because most of the waistband will be covered by the jacket, even with the jacket open. There is a thread about high-waisted trousers going on right now in the CM forum.
