I'm not sure how that determined the character eintirely other than the director Terrance Young being the model along with some description fom Fleming, but Connery studied movement I read somewhere, and they wanted Bond to move literally like a "jungle cat", I think this is what seperates Connery from the others many times, as one poster stated:

Such charisma! Such precise gesture! It's like he is measuring his every movement, I love it!

Besides his look, I think this is what makes him the timeless bond, that and high quality, classic masculine clothing.

He had the best style, and was always supremely masculine. Some say he may have been the first metro (I hate that term).

I have always wanted to be James Bond, but I have never had the chance or need to kill anybody.
