1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

spent the last few months working away on a new site for engaged guys or guys planning to get engaged. pretty proud of the site; we've been been designing and programming day and night and it launches today.

feel free to check it out, it's free. let me know what you think about the content, design, usability, etc. (be kind, may be buggy at first launch like any other site.)

Looks good. Was the site made for RingTutor.com?

I feel a bit overloaded looking at it, it reminds me of internet humor sites where they jam their content to the gills. Of course I'm far from getting married so you may want a more qualified opinion.

my specific problem is that there are too many things taking up roughly equal amounts of space (the boxes seem to all be the same size to me) and I have trouble focusing on anything.

no, no, all feedback is good. these are the challenges when you're dealing with a fuckton of content; ajax dropdowns can only do so much.

no problem. The other thing about the internet humor comparison is, looking at the logo it seems to go for a more whimsical audience, and I'm not sure how seriously it would be taken (or how seriously you want it to be taken) by a guy who's actually looking to get married. right now, I don't think very much.

yeah, we did 18 logos for them and this was probably 17th on my list. will post the others at some point, were some gems.

I actually love the logo. That's a lot of content and there doesn't seem to be a good way to keep the reader's attention focused (I'm sure you have stats to track that) and I wanted to leave the site after a few clicks. Not sure why. The drop down menus with the clicked option turning transparent gets a little messy when there's text or an image behind it.

^yeah, unfortunately those ajax menus are the least messy way to organize the content. will be making tweaks as we add more main pages and such. thanks for looking.

I think it's just the transparency when clicked that looks odd - the menus themselves are OK

Maybe it's because I got married last year and spent some time on planning sites (theknot and a handful of others), but I immediately felt like I was being sold something. I think that's more inherent to the market than to the site design, though.

These days I actually feel better about a site if it has well-known sponsor/sales links up front--not to mention theknot.com again, but they have macy's and target logos right on the page. Sites that link only internally make me feel a little trapped/suspicious.

Agree that the writing is pretty good--doesn't seem to be a lot of cut/paste to just fill space.
