I was watching TV last weekend and found myself watching an old Clint Eastwood movie: "For a Few Dollars More."

Since joining SF I find myself paying more attention to clothing, styles, etc. Anyhow, in the movie, one of the supporting characters (Lee Van Cleef) was wearing a tie with a stick pin through the knot of the tie itself. The best pic I could find of this is below although it doesn't stand out terribly well:

So, I was curious as to whether this use/placement of a stick pin in a tie has ever been in style in modern time (ie. post WWII), what others think of it, and whether anyone would ever do this now?
