prefer the new version myself, on the principle that a close-fitting logo T calls for simple, streamlined pants - no pleats, no cuffs, no break.

Yes, but if you've read the "original" Foofing thread, you would realize that such imperfections are frowned upon because they show you to be the imperfect plebe that you are. Plebe.

I don't see what too much contrast would mean if your sports coats are basic navys or browns. I wear gray flannel pants quite often and it goes with almost everything I have.

The word 'BROWN' should be smaller on the shirt so the Foo will appear larger.
(I am suprised that Foo would not have thought of this himself when he bought it)
I would also like to see an assortment of different hairstyles presented. (examples- Long Hair, Bald, Mowhawk, Beards, etc.)

It's just personal preference. I like mid gray better than light gray, because I feel like there is *too much* contrast when I wear the light grays with my navy/brown sports coats - I feel like it's too loud. Of course, literally no one else in my work or personal life notices these things...

Fortunately "mid-gray" encompases a good range of colors.

I would have gotten the mid-grays from HY but they sold out, and I figured I'd give the light gray a shot... Eh, next winter.

+1, but more like a polo. The sweater in itself looks too casual for flannel pants. As someone else said, maybe it'd look better with chinos, but the purpose of Foo's blog post was to show the pants, so I'd say a polo or dress shirt and a less casual (v neck) wool pullover. Anyway, Foo himself implied he didn't bother choosing the top, so we shouldn't give much thought to it.

And then, in typical

fashion, he defended this choice as if his e-life depended upon it.

yes, i know the notion of distinguishing btwn 'dress' pants and 'casual' pants is repugnant, but i can't believe anyone going for a picnic in central park would choose to wear their new $XXX ($800

) pants, even if you have 4 xta pairs waiting in the box at home.
