The size of the collar is dependent on the physical characteristics of the wearer. Simply saying a collar should be 9cm is wrong.

The collar that Mina developed for me is 3.25" or 8.3cm.

I didn't say that were better for being longer. I meant that are better for me or my face.

Just got this today on the mail from a forum member. My 33 birthday present

New Borrelli in Sasa Collar, his cutaway one that is more wide spread than cut away. My review; I expected a far worse shirt, but came better than I thought. The cut is slim and the fabric is nice, not as good as before, not handmade buttonholes. Nice if you can get them at the right price, just are as Pal Zileri shirt but with the armhole handsewn. The collar shape is not as good made as before, that is right. Uploaded with ImageShack.us The seller's picture was better than mine; Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I just ordered a bunch of these, should arrive sometime next week.

Are you happy with them?

I got some "slim fit" and a couple "tailored fit", as I wasn't sure how slim either one was. I like shirts pretty slim, but I don't want to be wearing a collared man-torso-condom either.

I wish I'd known about moderntailor when I ordered from CT, but oh well. I needed shirts asap though, and moderntailor's 21 days would have been too long anyway.

I like them very much, the best non-iron shirts I have found.

Fabric on both shirts is Riva. Merolla also included additional cloth for future replacement of cuffs and/or collar.

Nice. Did Merolla separate from De L'Ero?

Do you like those peak collars?

I got one from Finamore but don't fits me as great as the wide spread or cutaways.

They got that sea island same fabric in one shirt, honest the fabric was better than a lot of milan based brands and costed 49 euros, 10 more for a mtm. Was the same as my two better Finamores posted here. The buttons were white MOP , but the collars were not as good as the neapolitans, they also got cloned my last Kiton tie and got a manekin without one sleeve to show the spallacamica with waterfall

F*cking copycats. I guess they can get those prices as they would buy kilometers of fabric instead of a few meters as the neapolitan does.

An OCBD made from a set of Ralph Lauren Oxford bed sheets. Presented in the washed but not ironed style they sell the polo OCBDs. Unlined collar & cuffs, but it's actually got a full-sized button down collar, and nicer details like pattern matching, mop buttons, and the like. The yoke is split & chevroned on the outside but just one piece on the inside since the whole shirt is basically built around the inside yoke.

I like the look of the fabric. How does it feel?

The real test of an oxford is what it feels like after 30 washes. So it's not really fair to compare a new one to your old favorites.

The only recent examples I have to compare it to are shirtings -- Philips Boyne's oxford and Acorn's. As you may, PB's oxford is heavy and stiff. It softens up eventually (I guess, I don't know, the oldest shirt I have only feels like it's halfway there). Acorn's is finer and feels very soft from the get-go, but it wrinkles much more easily.

So the RL bedsheet oxford--it's weight-wise it's heavier than Acorn but a little lighter than PB. In softness it's in between. Much better than PB when new, but only time will tell how it ages. It's definitely an oxford weave and it may very well be the same as the fabric they make the shirts from. I don't own any since they don't make them with long enough sleeves for me. Next time I go to a store that sells polo shirts I'll bring some scraps to compare.

Thing is, if you decide to do the same thing, the fabric shrinks quite a bit (I measured 7%). So make sure you wash it before making a shirt out of it. This is especially true if you plan to wear it unironed, since unpressed sleeves are going to appear shorter than usual.

Thank you for the info, Ataturk. I wasn't thinking of using it myself (probably not available in The Netherlands anyway), but I think it's a great 'experiment'.
