No big deal. It was a stocked 16" slab that migrated down from an upstream pool. I may not have killed a wild fish.

Will post pics later from my Miami trip.

Two Mangrove Snappers, a really nice Jack, and three tarpon hooked and another three coming up to my fly (two on the same cast). Those guys were everywhere but because I've never fished tarpon I didn't know how to fight and keep them on the line. Oh well, you gotta learn at some point.

Also, fishing in Everglades National Park is a phenomenal experience. It really makes you appreciate how utterly crazy the early settlers of Florida were. The water is no good, the land is no good, the bugs are non-stop, you have massive thunderstorms all the time (in fact we were coming back and had a thunderstorm hit our area--as a worrier that was not so fun).

Really a wonderful spot of the Earth and I hope to come back down again soon.

I believe I posted that when it first came out, but yes, it's a touching article.

Mate you probably did and that's where I probably first read it. I saved it in my bookmarks and I go back and read it once a year or so as although it's a sad end to a troubled life it's still quite an entertaining read the way he lived his life.
