If you are planning to buy flowers for Valentine's Day, get thee to www.organicbouquet.com and use this 20% off code (GIFT20). I ordered my wife two dozen roses for the phenomenal price of $61 delivered. They say prices are going up in Feb, which would make sense. Anyway, this is a great price for top quality roses, with the added benefit that they are organic.

Thanks for the tip! I'm kind of over roses, personally, but I'll look for something else. Anyone have any particular rose-alternative favorites for V-day?

You're welcome! Happy to share the deal.

I'm over red roses myself, so I chose these, which I thought were cheerful.

You're right, alternate colors of roses are great. It's just red that's seems a bit stale and unimaginative to me these days. Of course red roses would still be my go-to bouquet for the start of a new relationship and that first V-day, but hopefully, I'm done with new relationships.

So, it's almost 7pm, and I arrive at my GF's decidedly unfloral home to discover an email from Organic Bouquet at around 5pm saying that due to inclement weather conditions (i.e., a modest snowfall to which everyone and his grandmother has been wildly overreacting ), her Valentine's Day flowers may arrive as late as tomorrow. Needless to say, I'm slightly irked. Their Customer Disservice lines were clogged - what's a reasonable accommodation do you think? Should I request some sort of discount for late delivery? Or do they owe me nothing -- 'act of God' and all that jazz? I mean, they wait until 5 pm to tell me there's a problem? I could have picked up some roses myself if I'd known.

Yeah, I got the same email at work this evening.

What did you do? Instead of my usual "screw you incompetent a*****s" attitude, I took a page from my current reading ("How To Win Friends And Influence People") and began my email to customer service by actually THANKING them for being kind enough to notify me about the problem! Then I expressed my disappointment (as opposed to ANGER) at having been notified too late in the day to make other arrangements, and I got weepy about how sad I was (as opposed to PISSED) to have disappointed my girlfriend on Valentine's Day. I asked them pleasantly to either offer me a discount or accept my cancellation of the order. Haven't heard back yet. Dale Carnegie says you're supposed to be authentic in your attitude (as opposed to cynically manipulative), so I don't know how this strategy will pan out for me.

And I blame YOU personally, you shill! I've PM'd Lawyerdad, Mr Checks and odoreater for an evaluation of my legal options. I think any further direct posting between us is inadvisable until this is resolved through our respective representation.

Well, after my GF told me this evening that she still didn't receive the flowers, I called customer service. The rep offered me either a full refund or another bouquet (In other two for the price of one). I felt like they should have given me the second bouquet and refunded part of my money, but they wouldn't. Given my hellacious week at work, I didn't have the energy to even argue.

Luckily, I have an understandng GF. I told her what happened and she suggested that I get a refund. I thought about it and its not their fault that the order didn't make it out of OH, so I may take them up on the offer for the second bouquet.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm a bit annoyed at this point because my GF still hasn't received hers either (10 PM the day after), and Cust Svc. still hasn't responded to my email. Thankfully, my GF is also very cool about these things, and we had a fun night out anyway. I'll call them as you did, and just ask for the refund. The snow and transportation delays aren't their fault, but the customer service responsiveness is a bit disappointing.

Yeah you should definitely call. I got through to CS on the first try. No wait at all. The more I think about it, I will probably have them send a second order. I am pretty sure she would be very surprised since she thinks I am asking for a refund.
