Dear Sirs

I am looking for some budget flat front chinos, I am willing to pay up to £40 a pair. I am especially looking for the colours navy and red.

I shall be wearing them with this Hackett unlined cotton jacket, which I also intend to buy:

Wouldn't it just look like a mismatched suit? Just like people who try to match black blazers to black trousers.

Ah, that I couldn't say, I have always worn them very casually - uncreased. They do have some creased trousers but I have never owned/worn any. In general the quality of everything I have bought from uniqlo has been suprisingly good.

You could also look at Racing Green (the poster above reminded me of them) I remember my father bought a few very cheap basics from them a while back and they have held up fine. They seem to have run in to difficulties at some point but they still have a website, so they might be worth looking into.

What, if the chinos are navy or red, as I stated in the original post? How will that look like a mismatched suit with a beige/cream jacket?

I might try Uniqlo's 'cotton twill' trousers, they are actually only £15 and appear to be creased without pleats, I don't know whether that's a good fabric or not. I do have one pair of Racing Green trousers but they have a 34 waist and are I think orphaned from a suit, so rather baggy.

For knocking about in, I also find Uniqlo's stuff pretty decent, so +1 on that suggestion.

It wouldn't.

Someone just isn't reading before responding.

Without creases:

I tried pressing them, but they hold a crease about as well as the average pair of cords (i.e. badly). They're not bad trousers for the money - well made and a decent weight. They're slightly lower waisted than some chinos (think around levi 501 level) - not low more mid-rise.

Has anyone tried Uniqlo's odd jackets? The Hackett I posted above is a bit expensive for me at the moment... does anyone know if a Uniqlo jacket might look all right?
