Nay, nay and thrice nay!

Flaps on any suit besides dinner suit

Flaps on SCs or patch pockets for a slightly more sporty/casual look.

Flapped patch pockets look all wrong to me, even on polo coats.

Fine for a casual suit, undesirable for conservative business dress.

My W.W. Chan blazer suit has flapped patch pockets, but then it started out as a blazer, and I only ordered the trousers later.

Yay! But on casual suits and coats. Especially if they are sacks!

Casual suits in fabrics such as poplin, linen, or seersucker; otherwise, sc only.

This.

I think Will's Solaro suit has flapped patch pockets, and that's as formal as I would go (i.e. not very much at all) with that type of pocket.

Not on a worsted, but a thicker wool they look good. I have a navy/white herringbone 3-piece with flap patch pockets and it looks great.

I think it's a very "trad" thing: Brooks Brothers, J.Press, and the like. But they only do it on sport coats. I would do the same.

Not a fan whatsoever; it's a very ungainly and eye-grabbing (in a bad way) detail, IMO. That said, it's acceptable on SCs. Not on suits, unless it's your 30th suit or something. And even then, not liking it.
