I agree with this.
Judging by where the pockets are located it looks like you could shorten it slightly and not throw off the balance of the coat.
I have only started to build my own wardrobe but since you requested more opinions I wanted to give you mine in an attempt to help.

Edit: Ah, it seems Murl has added what I had forgotten to say. A few more pictures, if possible, would definitely help.
