Hello All,
Newbee here. Looking to purchase a tux and the more I investigate online, the more confused I get. I think notch lapels look much more elegant, but the "classic" peak seems to be what everyone on this site supports as the only real option. Also, does one button vs. two button really matter? Finally, looking to spend less than $800..any thoughts on brand?

Thanks in advance for advice

Al

I have one coming that should be here in April. I don't recall the name but I opted for the notched lapel with a one button closure and flat front pants. I think it will end up coming in around $700 when all is said and done. I went for the more timeless look as the peak is a little OTT for me but I definitely give praise to those who wear them as I think they look good.

notch lapel and elegant hardly belong in the same sentence regarding a dinner jacket.

it only makes sense that way.

http://www.blacktieguide.com/ Notch lapel is for business suits. Avoid it, despite its modern ubiquity. In my opinion this matters far more than the number of buttons, though single button is preferred.
