first time in NYC

I will be going to New York for the first time new week and wanted to ask you guys what stores/boutiques were a must to go too.

I am planning on going to the below already:

Famous Friends
Steven Alan
Odin
Oak
Bloomingdales
Barneys co-op
Nom de Guerre

any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I would recommend visiting 5th Avenue.

You'll be surrounded with lots of stores to choose from.

After cruising 5th Avenue, go downtown to Soho (South Of Houston).

There, you'll find more stores to visit.

In Noho (North Of Houston) they recently made a Huge Adidas Store
that once was a Car Wash.

Noho, is more Hip Hop clothing, and, Soho is more European clothing.
With the exception of Urban Oufitters in Noho of course.

While, your in Soho, scoot over to West Broadway, and, you'll find
lots of Outdoor Restaurants, shops (D&G, Ralph Lauren for instance)
and artist selling their paintings (If you go there on Sunday) on the
sidewalk.

I guess, you might as well check out Macy's too on West 34th &
7th (aka Fashion) Avenue. I rarely go over there (The area is just
too Ghetto for my taste) but, they do have clothing stores about.

There's Lord & Taylor on 38th and 5th Avenue. One of the few Department Stores that believes in upholding the Department Store Tradition.

Lord & Taylor, is more a loner in it's area (More Computer Stores than
Apparel) so, it would be bests to vist that store when you go to 5th
Avenue.

I know I'm forgeting someplace else.

More Elegant, so, less stores cluttered on the floor. Across the street
from Central Park.

If you like Abercrombie

You can go to South Street Seaport.
Basically a little cobble stone road shopping center around the Wall
Street Area. Nothing special, but, you can see the Peking Ship

Speaking of Wall Street, Century 21, is not to far from there. on
Cortlandt Street, across the street from where the World Trade Center
stood.

Definitely Blue in Green.

Also, when going to Nom de Guerre, the entrance is on the corner of Broadway and I believe Bleecker. You have to go down the stairs next to the Swatch store on the corner to get to NDG. Confused me the first time since there were no obvious signs, so I thought I'd give you a heads up.

You may as well hit up Atrium, if you are going to Nom de Guerre. Also, I sort of like the Bloomingdales in Soho...

i love 45rpm but everytime i go in there, I KNOW I CAN'T AFFORD anything, they know it too.

Not necessarily "musts," but if you're in soho I'd recommend the 45rpm store for ogling, the Marc Jacobs store (though other stores will have just as much MJ), APC (kind of a zoo when I visited in March), the adidas store down there (they had some sweet oki-ni adidas last I was there), Uniqlo for cheap basics, Jack Spade (their bags are the focus, but the accessories are cool and they carry a small amount of loopwheeler), and Built By Wendy. Check the superfuture maps if yo uhaven't already, see if anything jumps out at you.

thanks guys for the help, I am going out there for the Pool Trade show, so I will only have 2-3 days max to shop.

But, I am for sure going to hit up nom de guerre, odin, famouse friends, atrium, and bloomi's. And then if I have time go to 45 rpm, earest sewn, and such. I am in Chicago, so a lot of this stuff I can get here.

i know what you're talking about, but it's hard to avoid if you are living in new york.

definitely check out Blue in Green. you will probaby not find any of the stuff there in chicago, i guarantee you. they have oliver helden's new line (designer for marc by marc jacobs), they have swagger, phenomenon (japanese streetwear brands), john bull, and of course, all of the nice japanese denim brands.

I would spend 10-15 minutes in RRL too just to check out how their stuff stacks up. They use Japanese denim and cut too big/full for me. They have raw as well as washed.

There's an awesome canvas bag I wanted there. After I saw the $1500 prx tag I didn't want it anymore.

I was there on the first day when the 50% sale started and it was a ruckus hahahaha. None the less, check it out if you are into minimalist stuff.

a.p.c. is not bad on a non-sale day. customer service is really good too.
