Ive been lurking the forum for the last few months trying to digest what I read. Before I joined sf I was looking to purchase a black suit as my first. Holy sheet was I misinformed. I have been consistently lurking b&s but haven't found anything perfect yet. Well I will be interviewing for jobs soon and need to find something very quickly. Its getting to the point where I either need to order something soon, or find a local otr that is more than likely a less superior suit.

This brings me to my need for advisement. What do you think of this Lanvin as a first suit. I am 26yo looking for a slim/modern cut 2 button....ect. It looks great in the photos but I would like your opinions on whether the cut, brand, materials, are recommended or should I be looking elsewhere. Thank you for reading my novel of a post.

WoW! I like what I see. I believer Lanvin is pretty respectable brand here, isn't it?

Thanks for the responses. Another thing that has kept me from purchasing is the shoulders. I tried on a suit yesterday with a 17.5 inch shouder and it seemed to fit well but ideally I think I'm a 17-17.25. That small of a shoulder seems very difficult to come across. Can the shoulders be adjusted any way just that small amount without having to deconstruct the suit or is that small of a difference something I shouldn't worry about?

I wouldn't get a $1k suit from Ebay as your first suit.

. Shoulder adjustment almost requires rebuilding the entire upper part of the jacket.

Measure your shoulders, keep within a half inch on your OFT purchases (absolute max is an inch plus or minus but you might not get away with it). More than an inch, you could look end up looking like a NFL player and should be playing defence.

Regarding Lanvin: They did have a period where they were making lower end merchandice for dep stores like Dillards, but they really have beefed up their quality in recent times. I believe their suits are fully canvassed, and at $900, it is quite a good deal.

I hear ya but my options around here are fairly limited without paying 2000+ for a similar quality suit. Also, the seller does give full refunds. I'd rather avoid that hassle but the option is there. As for the shoulders, they would be .25 inch or so big at best. Anyone have anymore info on the quality of this suit? In your guys opinion does it look like a slim cut, high armhole,...ect. I have learned a lot on here but still have ALOT to learn

Compromising a bit on quality for your first suit is reasonable. You can learn a lot online, but it really isn't a good idea to test your knowledge by dropping a thousand dollars, especially on a suit you can't even try on and look at in the mirror.

I got very lucky on my first suit, bought online, but I also bought some disasters before I really learned what to look for.

I would be cautious buying a suit made up in 130's. I say that because I own several garments made up in 130's or close to that fineness and they are prone to shining. This is coming from someone who has a large rotation and who wears clothing with care and views a trip to the dry cleaner as something to be done only when truly necessary.
I like the suit well enough but I would advise a less delicate fabric.

Well Mister.
I can't understand what would make you want to spend $1000 on a suit that looks like it was dragged through a washing machine backwards. Some one else's second hand junk that more than probably does not even fit you, and you think you're gonna look good in it. Have you thought about what the crotch and underarm might smell like. Forget it.

Go buy yourself a new one that fits!!
