First Suit Advice

I have benefited from looking over the topics listed on this sight, and I need to find a suit this week for an upcoming interview. I am looking for a first suit in the 300-500 range. I recently went to Men's Warehouse, which apparently only carries low quality. My options are limited due to the time constraint and few retailers in the area. I tried on a Tallia suit at MW which was listed at 700, but I would get another suit free. It was 100% wool but made in China and seemed to fit well. I don't have any experience buying suits and would appreciate advice pertaining to the best retailers to purchase suits, what to look for when buying a suit, and also opinions on the Tallia suit at MW for effectively 350. Thanks

Where do you live? There might be discount stores there worth checking out. If you, however, are only concerned with a single interview, and you are pressed for time, and you are not interviewing somewhere that clothing especially matters, then you will probably be fine just getting a cheap suit and being more careful in future decisions.

I'd be careful with the salespeople at places like Men's Warehouse, Jos A Bank, or Macy's. Unless you are literally shaped like a 40 year old stereotypical American, those suits won't fit you well, no matter what the salesperson says.

Try to find a navy suit, with two buttons. Very standard, but very classy. The most important thing is the fit of the suit, so look long and carefully on that. Look here on SF for more pictures and inspiration.

I am currently located in Tallahassee. My other retail options are Macy's, Jos A Bank, and a local shop. Any recommendations between the options? I have read that most prefer Jos between the retailers. The potential suit at MW would be a two button navy that is a modern slim fit. Does anyone know about Tallia suits? I have never heard anything about them before going to MW.

Jack Victor is the only suit line worth considering from MW. Signature Gold probably is the only worthwhile suit option at Jos. A. Bank. Probably nothing is worth anything close to full price, and two lousy suits for the price of one is never a good deal. Maybe the local shop is better, but then it's probably more expensive. There seems to be a local Dillard's, which might have better options.

Since your on a time limit, find out what the JAB sale is and if its 50% off for only one item, just go with them.

Otherwise, try and find a Rack or Last Call and buy a navy/charcoal suit that fits you the best.

There are also thrift store options.

Honestly though, since your on a time limit, buy the suit that fits you the best and doesn't break your bank. You'll probably end up donating the suit sooner rather than later if you spend enough time on these forums, but if you get the job, whose to say it wasn't worthwhile.
