After doing a bit of searching... can I go wrong by going with the APC New Standards for my first raw pair? I'm considering the Regular Ralf and Straight Sven as well, the Cures are probably too tight I think. I'm looking for something nice and dark, that honeycombs/whiskers well, and straight leg.

To the denim heads that stack, how many inches are you topping on to your "true" inseam? Now that I mention it, I don't actually know how measure my true inseam-- can anyone give me a pointer? Is it just wherever you want the pants to sit, to the ground?

Also, I just recently learned know how to measure "true" waist (2 inches below the navel, is that right? Or would I be better off measuring wherever I plan to have the jeans sit?)

As always, thanks guys.

Your real inseam is the distance from your guiche to the ground.

Not really an expert, so read what I'm saying with that in mind.

I think that you should measure where the jeans would sit. Not much sense in measuring where they aren't gonna be, right?

Stacking is weird. It's also got to do with the rise of the jeans, if they're high rise but you're wearing them low, then the inseam would be different than a low rise sitting where they're supposed to sit (hope that makes sense). Skinnier jeans look better with more stack, but that could just be me. Also, there's the issue of preference, do you want a lot of stacking, or just a little break? I have a pair that I wish I had put an extra inch to when I had it hemmed. If you're taller, you can get away with more stack, not so tall? - then not so much stack. Good legs also play a factor, if you've got good calves, the jeans will pool nicely at the bottom, if you don't (like me) then not so nicely and not all at the bottom.

I think I probably have decent legs from sports, and am looking to stack more than just break-- I've "traditionally" worn jeans a little longer for a little more breakage and so I want something different. I see what you mean about the inseam.

From what I'm coming to understand, the New Standards have a taper (not sure how I thought they were straight leg) so maybe they're not for me. It seems like all recommendations point towards Nudies, the Ralfs and Svens, I think I will be mostly likely going that route.
