I feel bad being too negative, but I got six times from thetiebar recently and returned several of them. Of the two knit ties, one was quite nice and the other way to thin (in terms of knit - width was accurate) and flimsy. The good one had "knarrow" in its name.

I'm not experienced with high-quality ties, and yet even I could notice one of these was not good.

I'll buy from them again - for the price their stuff is good. But I plan on returning stuff I don't like and not liking a high proportion of their stuff.

If you like to wear black shoes and have very dark hair, consider a black knit silk tie.

Not to hijack this thread, but what material (wool, cashmere, silk knit) is the most versatile for pairing with sport coats?  I have a cashmere gray herringbone and a brown sport coat in the pattern below that I am looking to start wearing with ties.  My normal silk ties are too city for the jackets and I'm not a big fan of the square knit ties.  Wool?  Cashmere?  Any suggestions?

Consider a wool or cashmere to match the texture and add a nice winter look.

Luciano Barbera has some beautiful heather colored knit cashmere ties that would look good with that jacket^^^
