I'm heading up to Elmira NY for one day worth of Business, and thought about a long weekend with my wife up that way - Anyone know of a nice place on the lake, I checked out the following The Fox & Grapes B&B, John Morris Manor, The Belhurst, these seemed to be the nicer ones - Would love some help here, I've never been to that area, and would like to enjoy my time in a beautiful spot on the water? also if I should pick another lake, let me know. Not many 5 start joints up that way?

Get the tower suite at Belhurst Castle and you'll get nice view of Lake Seneca....I spent part of my honeymoon here over 23 years ago. Geneva is OK, but Elmira is a dump. The best thing to do is the wine trail.....the wineries are on the west shore drive of Lake Seneca. You'll only be about an hour away from Rochester so you can expand your dining choices and if you like, stop off in the Hickey Freeman outlet.

Other places to consider are Corning, which has the Corning Glass Museum and a charming village with some fine dining, Ithaca with Cornell as the anchor, Watkins Glen if you like racing. But I don't know of a place to recommend. Personally, I think Lake Keuka is the most beautiful and intimate of the Finger Lake settings and Branchport is a charming village.

Good luck!
