In my closet you'll find a pair of AE Weybridge in Chili, two pairs of Cole Haan, and a pair of RW Williams boots. I recently sold a pair of AE Fifth Ave. because they just never fit right and I felt the leather wasn't breaking in as much as I would like.

So now I'm on the journey of finding a nice pair of Black Oxfords to replace them. I went to Nordstroms the other week and the salesman pushed the Bruno Mag. shoes a lot, but I wasn't too impressed. The other few pairs I tried on there all fell a bit short of what I'm looking for.

Budget: I'd like to stay $350 and under

Use: For work, 98% of the time paired with a suit, typically a fair amount of walking on an average day.

Style: I want a captoe black oxford with a little chisel or modern look to it but nothing too pointy, a little detailing is just fine. I like the look of the Cheaney Cambridge, but they don't make it in black.

I also like the C&J Westbourne, but they are a bit out of my price range

I've look around the forum and have search some of the shoes everyone recommends, but really haven't found the style I'm looking for in my price range.

Would you kindly help steer me in the right direction, or provide me some recommendations?

    Thanks for all the help!
    David

Thanks for the suggestion Fred! How would these compare to the Cheaney Lime oxfords?

Thanks for the suggestion Victor they are great looking shoes, but those are well over my 350 US dollars budget

Thanks for the suggestions upr_crust! I like the Loding site, I'm not familiar with their brand, do you have any of their shoes?

    I really like these two:

http://www.loding.fr/en_16_shoes_richelieus_nevisa-black-box__353nevisanoir_en.html - don't have my size in this one though :(

My wife really likes the classic look of the Cheaney Lime, but I'm not sure how elongated the last is....it looks more so than the AE Park Aves though

I don't have a pair of Lodings, but I do have a pair of Bexleys, and they've proven to be quite serviceable shoes, and certainly a very good value for the price. A friend of mine does own a pair of Lodings, and he seems to like them quite well.

Best of luck, whatever choice that you make.

Thanks again upr_crust, both Lodings and Bexley have a lot of options at a really good price point.

Hope you and your family are safe up there in NYC. I'm here in Northern VA and thankfully didn't have any issues with the storm.

I weathered the storm with my partner with no problems - no loss of power, no damage. My office is on Wall St. - won't see it until power is restored, and the trains are running. Happy telecommuting to me . . .
