Orlando in Balenciaga, shoes doesn't look as horrible once worn, still an easy pass though. But those Diors are nice.

another person playing the same old "back when designer X was good..." tune.

do people realize that nobody would/will buy retarded lego shoes (which probably retailed for like $600+) during a recession? obviously extremist shit like these shoes and ultra-luxe $2000 knits with chain mail lining are not economically feasible.

It's almost universally agreed that Raf was better in the past, significantly so

i wasn't into fashion more than a year ago but i do think that comparing old seasons to new ones is pointless. They're not gonna put out the same stuff every season, that's why they're designers.

having said that, i'd say the type of people who bought $2000 knits back then would still buy them now. $2000 for anything other than a leather or a suit is only going to be bought by the very very wealthy, and the recession hasn't really changed that IMO. Obviously not including sales etc

I think the problem is people associate certain aesthetics with specific designers and can never get past it. Fashion designers can't remain stagnant; they can't survive in the industry if they do. They're going to experiment with different silhouettes, cuts, designs, etc. while remaining true to their original vision. Sometimes, it'll work. Other times, not so much. Just because a designer looks to extend past their comfortable aesthetic doesn't mean it's bad.

With that said, I do agree that I do like Raf's older works better, but that doesn't mean his newer ones are necessarily worse... just different...
