ok maybe im exaggerating a bit. i would kop lanvins at retail under the rare situation where i REALLY love them and think they will run out of my size. i was borderline about to do that for these patchwork black/navy ones that i couldnt find anywhere. i almost called the lanvin store to get them but then decided id just wait a bit and get a similar colorway for cheaper.

most boutiques that sell lanvins seem willing to negotiate on price. i havent tried haggling at nieman marcus because most of the people that work there are marsupials (one dude didnt even know lanvin makes clothes) and because id prefer to give someone else my money. the models that retail for 800+ will almost always come down in price since hardly anyone cops at those prices. the sequin ones i want now (posted a few pages back) retail for 1200 or something. at my local boutique, what do you know, they still have every single size available (albeit only one of each so im fucked if someone actually buys the 7).

i guess it goes back to the "conditioning" thread. id say spending < 500 for a pair of lanvins is a good deal. above that......id just wait a bit for the price to drop some, which, 90% of the time, it will.

if you are looking at a specific pair on Colette (or any item on colette for that matter), i say insta-kop. that website seems to be frequented by the biggest ballers in the world and all sizes disappear instantly.

Lanvins have actually been big since last year, plenty of people, especially celebs have been wearing them. Mostly hip-hop artists like Kanye, Jay-Z and Usher but there are other like Jude Law and Beckham who has worn them several times. Even Michelle Obama wore Lanvin several times last year.
