I know this post has been made quite a few times before, but I was wondering what color looks younger/modern? I know most people prefer tan but I think the brown or green looks a bit more modern. Also there's the J. Crew Raw color though it looks a bit too light for my taste.

Fly about 10 times a year at least so does the tan get dirty quickly as well? I would be carrying on only (I've used bigger bags before never had a problem) so does this even matter?

Thoughts?

I have the tan medium travel bag, I've flown with it to hawaii and mexico a bunch of times as well as use as a weekend bag and other short trips and it hasn't worn too much or shown dirt/looked messy.

I like the olive color too, almost more than the tan but didn't get it for some reason....not a fan of the brown.

Does Filson really represent "younger/modern"? I love Filson and have one but certainly wouldn't call it hip, cool, modern, etc. You might want to look at other brands.

But a classic item can always be worked into a younger look.

Filson bags are sold at Urban Outfitters, among other retailers, and have been getting lots of hype lately. Last time I checked, they had a special navy blue duffel made expressly for UO. Looked really good. That being said, I have a tan tote and a green duffel bag. Both colours are great. The tan will show dirt more.

I have a medium duffel in tan. I am pretty sure the "raw" color from Jcrew is the same as tan, but not positive. Also not sure why anyone would buy filson at jcrew, but whatever.

The medium is technically a little larger than what most airlines allow for carry-on, but I have never had a problem taking on a plane. Granted, I never really pack the thing to the brim.

As for what color is most modern, I would actually vote for the tan. I have filson items in all of the three standard colors (tan, brown, green) and for me, the contrast of the lighter tan material and darker leather straps make it just a little less conservative than the other colors. This is the same reason why I chose to get my filson 257 (computer briefcase) in brown...I find it a little bit more appropriate for my office.

I have the medium duffle (222) and 257 both in tan... and I love the contrast between the tan and brown leather straps.
