That’s a beautiful example of a Talon 256! No tag is consistent since they didn’t use them before about 2000/2001. Very few Talons had a build tag. With that said, it’s tough to put a build date on it since we mostly only have the leather color to go by. Since it’s not the chestnut color of the very earliest bags (which didn’t even come in otter green— to my knowledge), I would say that this bag likely falls in the 1995-1999 range, probably on the earlier side. It’s a beauty and I hope you can get the smell out or find a use for it where the mustyness isn’t an issue!Alright y'all. It's been a while - I hope you've all been well. I've been busy getting out to fish, camp and enjoy spring/early summer here in Michigan. It looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do!
A work friend just stopped by my office with a bag she thinks I might like. It's an Otter Green, Talon era 256 that she found on a shelf in her garage. I don't see a build tag, nor do I see where it might have been ripped out. It's definitely got the super waxy smell going on. Any input, build date guesses, etc. are more than welcomed.
After talking through it with her (letting her know she's got a nice bag that some people would pay for), she said she wanted me to have it and enjoy it.

Odoban. I would choose Fresh Linen or Cotton Breeze. I do not recommend the Eucalyptus. Thanks, TinMan! I had forgotten about the build tags not being used on talons. I’ll have to dig back through old posts, as I know this group has talked about how to get the waxy smell out. I’m pretty excited about it.

Been awhile since I last posted. Life has been pretty hectic for me; relocated, new job, new home, got into a serious car accident. Lucky to be alive, could've been much worse if it's wasn't a Camry that plowed into me. Been using my Talon OG 257 lately though, in all its glory. Looking forward to picking up were I left off, you've all been busy in my absence, glad to hear this thread is alive and well.
Looks like I found a OMG fan...anyone here? "Pre-Bedrock"...that's my line
