Even with the measuring and cutting and sealed seams? Filson once had a rucksack (I understand a rucksack is very different from a tote) in a catalog where they showed every piece and it was staggering how many individual pieces were cut and sewn for that one item. I mean when you’re doing a run of 1000 yes absolutely you have efficiencies but there’s still a lot of steps involved. I bet they would be able to tell us this when we visit the facility this summer ;).
YES - should we book it now?

quick question my filson aficionados. I bought a tote without zippers to use for travel, acting as my "personal bag" on flights, would you guys recommend keeping it, or going with the zippered tote instead and just having a navy family?
thank you

Irrespective of color, wouldn’t the zipped version be better for the stated purpose? You still have to put it in the bin or under the seat in front of you and I’d be worried about something falling out without a zipper.

Having owned both I will say I think the #260 Open Tote not only carries better then my YKK #261, it packs better too. The zippered tote carried too low to the ground and for some reason felt considerably heavier in the hand, cutting into it more. Open tote all the way. It has a very sturdy base without the top heavy zippers so it will stay put protecting your things

True that but for airplanes, the zippered tote is better, I believe.

If only you could carry on whiskey bottles, then I believe you would change your answer, especially with those pesky long neck bottles. :fonz:

Anyone in the market for a brand new Filson #266 Sportsman in Brown? Shoulder strap is even included, which is usually the first thing to disappear. This is the authentic #266 (or #70266) Sportsman, not the more expensive, and considerably smaller version Filson currently sells in Tan only.

Hey, group. I missed out on the tote sale somehow. Does anybody have a spare one in hemlock they are willing to sell for a reasonable price?
