Hey, you can snap 2 trays together flat, and carry odd shaped things, watches, etc!

I’ve got a line on a 258 for $100 plus shipping. Used but looks to be very good condition and maybe YKK zippers. But since I have a 256 already, is this just a needless purchase? Clearly there is some size difference, but is it worth it? Maybe there is a niche the 258 just fits better.

I have both 256 and 258. The 258 is a wonderful bag for those days you need more room but still want a briefcase style. The big front pocket is super handy and the main body is padded so you aren’t obligated to use a laptop sleeve if you don’t want. At a pinch it’ll cope with an overnight as well. At that price it’s no loss.
Remember: you are giving a lost puppy a home.... ;-)

ive got both. personally I prefer the 258, the 256 stays in the closet, in fact ive used it only once to go to a car dealership. I love the extra capacity, and the front pocket is great. ive been meaning to unload the 256 in fact.

Not to derail the 256 vs 258 conversation, but can anyone add some additional commentary on 257 vs 258?

I have the 257 and it has been great for me. I have wondered if the 258 might be useful in addition for certain occasions.

I recently found the 258 will hold a 15 inch laptop in the outer laptop pocket. Neither the 256 or 257 will do that

+1...Just out of curiosity - what do you folks carry in your 258? I just got mine a week or two ago on impulse so I've yet to use it. My first thoughts was for short business trips (1-2 days) but I doubt it would fit much business clothes properly so that's probably out. The small duffle and 256 would work fine for that too..

But to answer your question, if you're unsure of what occasion you could use the 258 for, I'd probably stick with just the 257. I have all three. I feel like the 257 carries a lot more than what most people typically carry, and if you fill it up to capacity, it would probably be uncomfortable to carry. And that's just the 257.. can't imagine carrying the 258 at capacity.

Argh. Decisions decisions. If weren’t such a low price I wouldn’t bother with it but...

Could easily fit a pair of jeans, couple of shirts, a couple pair of socks and shorts, in additional to my laptop and peripherals.

Yup. Carried my MacBook Pro in that spot for years when commuting by folding bike. As well as a pair of dress shoes, lunch box, and often on the way home a few groceries!

Planning to do a test pack this weekend too.. Guess it's subjective to each person's needs. Ideally, I'd like to fit a pair of dress shoes, a couple dress shirts, pair of slacks, sport coat, etc along with computer stuff.. I could quickly see the dress shoes being a huge problem though so the duffle and 256 would probably work best in these situations..If it works, it'll be a tight fit
