I’ve decided that this is the last place I want to interject my politics on, as I’ve always looked at this thread, with this particular group, as a well needed distraction. In these times, that is needed even more I think. So I give you my new 1,000 post avatar selection. Staying with the trend of centering around Filson, I chose to include another passion of mine...Kentucky Bourbon & Rye:

Congrats on 1k! I enjoy this thread even though I don’t post a lot. I really enjoy the diversity of filson enthusiasts and the range of filson products.

Admittedly I’ve become quite the Old Forester hound. It’s currently my favorite distillery and brand.

Hi everybody!

I am selling:

- Filson Rugged Twill Pullman Small: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254612663197 (ends in ~20 minutes)

- Filson Tin Cloth Duffle Pack Dark Tan Brown: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254612472231

- Filson Padded Computer Bag Otter Green: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254612485538

- Filson Medium Rugged Twill Duffle Otter Green: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254612483642

- Filson Padded Computer Bag Tan: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254612481216

Everything brand new with tag and still sealed inside the original Filson plastic bag. Got a full box of Filson for "cheap" cause a retail store I know had to close due to corona.

The word “painfully” doesn’t fit anywhere in the same sentence as it relates to bourbon, unless you’re talking about standard Maker’s Mark.

Hey now, I'm a fan of Maker's Mark. Just finished off a bottle of 46 last night. Good, solid whiskey that can be had in any bar in the country and nearly the world...

I enjoy Old Forester- good whiskey - in the same vein (historically) as Wild Turkey, Old Granddad and a few others - classics that have been around forever.

I encourage any of you that can make it to the Bourbon Trail to make your first stop (especially if you’re new to distillery tours or whiskey) at the Old Forester tour in downtown Louisville. It’s a working distillery that shows you every step of the process - they even char their barrels in front of you (you can push the button, if you’re so inclined).

Here are a few shots as I think back on the fact that it was my last time out of town (late Feb/early Mar).

That’s why I said Standard Maker’s. Maker’s 46 isn’t because of the added French Oak Staves. I’ve had 2 bottles myself. The standard stuff is the only whiskey I’ve had to muscle my way through. Luckily it was only a snifter at Buffalo Wild Wings.

Only acceptable answer for MM is Cask and even then, its thin and astringent, but at least has a descent taste. Could be worse though....could be Old Forester. :bounce2:

Lol we gotta send you to bourbon tasting school. There’s something that isn’t adding up here. I started off with Woodford Reserve myself, after all but giving up on appreciating scotch or any other hard liquor for that matter. Fast forward at least 100 bottles later, and I’m still in love with this Kentucky brown gold. Haven’t met a bottle I couldn’t find at least one thing to love about.

Perhaps a Styleforum meetup in the middle of Bourbon country is in order.

And by the way, the ONLY way to tell what you reall like is a blind taste test. We're as much influenced by labels in the whiskey world as we are in the wine world.

I encourage you to set aside 5-10 bottles for blind taste tests. You'll REALLY love that 9th and 10th taste!

I had someone do a blind test to me with this stuff and man was I off my game. I was definitely a fan, but not enough to pay their ridiculous membership fees. Tons of complexity at a price of only $30 (friends bottle)
