257 will absolutely fit it, my 13" has liberally with extra space.

But my laptop is 15" wide, and the 256 and 257 are only 16" wide. It will probably be a snug fit?

Yeah, you got one inch extra and, as said, it's canvas; it'll move. :teach:

The Sportsman comes up to about $200.... But I don't need it right now... Argh, so tempting.

That 15% off code at Hilton's still works. Ordered my 256 on Sunday and it arrived on Tuesday.

The quality of this thing far exceeded my expectations. Love the brown for my office environment.

My OG 257 arrived today. Very pleased.

    Question for current owners:
I see a lot of discussion in this thread about adding a grip to the 256, but no talk of removing it from the 257. After handling a friend's broken-in 256, I really prefer the feel of the bare handles to the handgrip. I know that I'll be too lazy to ever snap the thing and it'll just get in the way. Has anyone tried this with success? I realize that there will be sew holes in the leather initially, but I feel like those will contract over time.

Can anyone offer a persuasive argument for or against removing the grip?

guys thanks for the glens outdoors info, i spent alot of time debating and went with a 256 in tan like everyone else.
the 256 is the same size as the earnest alexander bags i have handled before so it seems as if its the right size.

    good price after the sale....
