I dont quite like the design of of the medium, but thanks!

looks lovely. how's the width of it? similar to 257 or original 256? revolve quote the dimension as one inch smaller but filson web states the same.
i'm coming from a country that rains quite frequently so i'm not sure about the exposed wool holding up on the wet weather.

The inside is lined on the two sides where there is tweed on the outside, so I don't foresee it ever soaking through (if that's your concern).

Looks amazing! I haven't seen photos of the navy at all.

How is the wool in terms of durability? Its a nice accent but I would be worried that it would wear out faster than the tweed.

Sorry didn't see this. I don't have an original 257 or 256 to compare with so can't comment (I would guess that if there was a variance in sizing it would be far closer to the width of the 256 though). The last image in my album shows what you can hold quite easily with some spare room still on top.

Obviously it's not as strong as the main construction but only a small portion of the tweed is exposed and not in areas where it is heavily handled or contacted (such as the underside). The tweed is not part of the main construction it is only a lining. I am so far not concerned about it wearing out.

How does the Tweed & Twill briefcase compare in quality, durability and rigidness to the regular briefcase?

I want a regular Navy, but it's on pre-order on every website I go...

I hope someone can help answer some questions, i'm female (i know, sorry for trespassing guys!) and i'm considering getting Filson 240, I've never seen one but like what I saw on pictures. I'm currently living in Asia (because of work) and won't be back in the States for a couple of years, so there is no way of getting one here, i'm gonna have my friends who live in NY to get one for me. So here are my questions:

    1. Is 240 too manly or is it still ok to be used by a woman? I'm actually one of the few woman who doesn't see much the importance of purses, some times I even go out without a bag at all but at the same time i don't want my friends questioning me why am i using a man bag. I always wear jeans and sneakers at work so i'm usually dressed casually.

    2. Can these things fit in? 14in acer laptop, charger, mouse, kindle, iphone and charger, wallet, typical size notebook and pens OR stuff that a typical overnight traveler carry: 1 pair of jeans, 2 shirts, short, flip flop or sneakers and typical toiletries.

    3. Is it heavy? I have small built; 5'4ft and around 100lbs (45kg), I was told it's a bit heavy but with the stuff above in it, will it be too heavy that's its not comfortable to carry anymore?

I really hope someone can help me with these things cause I really really want to get one but I'm hoping that it's something I can use very well and won't be sorry considering it's not really cheap.
    Thanks in advance!

As a guy who carries Filsons regularly, there are still a lot of people out there who think there's something feminine about a shoulder bag. Of course, what a woman will think of you carrying a Filson is a different matter, but I don't think there's anything gender specific at all. It's just a matter of whether your style is "rugged and patina" or "clean, pristine and shiny leathers". For a woman, the Navy or the Tan probably looks less "manly" than the green.

Yes, it'll fit all of those things. You also like a 257 (what I carry) as an everyday carry bag. I've used it no problem as an overnight bag. The strap placement and the handles just make it a little bit easier to move around and carry on planes.

The bag is going to be heavier than most bags if you are walking around with a mostly empty bag (maybe just a book and a notebook in there). It will be irrelevant if you have a laptop and jeans and all that stuff in there as well, since those will outweigh the bag by a lot. It'll be strong enough to carry all of that stuff, which is important.

I find my 257 to be super versatile.

Considering your frame and weight it might look a bit masculine on you, but wdahab is right, it will mostly depend on your own style too.

What does everyone think about the brown color? I'm leaning towards the brown because I think it adds a little more formality, making the bag a little more versatile to dress up or down.

I'm a little torn between the 4 colors available. They all look so good!

Navy - Biggest concern is that the color is too much like dark indigo jeans, which I wear a lot casually. Is it too matchy?
Tan - Great color. Nice contrast with the brown leather. Concerned about the formality (e.g. can I use this with a suit and get away with it?)
Olive - Not my first color of choice. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the way it fades.
Brown - Seems to be a good color, but a big downside is the reduced contrast between the straps and the brown bag.

I own a brown small duffle and a green 257, I also owned a tan small duffle but I sold it. I may be in the minority but I prefer the brown of the 3 traditional colors (never owned anything navy) because it has, in my opinion, the greatest versatility. It won't be acquiring the signature patina quite like a tan duffle, but I do a fair amount of traveling and I don't baby the bag whatsoever. The bags are rugged and lack formality; I would be hesitant to use my 257 (or any twill bag for that manner) in a daily business context. While there is little contrast between the handles and the bag itself, I have come to enjoy it's understated look.

Have you considered the Black Twill & Tweed?

In terms of formality, I'd think Black > Navy > Brown > Otter > Tan

The most versatile would be Brown & Navy. If you wear a lot of denim, Brown would probably give a better contrast.

I wish I had one in all colors... Like a women's handbag.

I thought about it, but I had trouble justifying the extra cost for basically the same briefcase (minus a color and accent).

Haha agreed. They all have their virtues. I feel like I would later own multiple filson bags.... so maybe I can get some in every color.

Thanks! Appreciate the input. Yeah I think the tan has a big thing going for it as the classic color with the best contrast against the leather straps. i also travel a lot and it might be better to get something that won't get dirty as easily.
