Thanks for your advice. I guess I'll wait a bit. ShoeRepertoire offers 40% off on Filson, but it doesn't carry 256 or 267.

Medium travel actually has slightly more space, plus more exterior pockets. The only downside, to me, is that the opening is a pain in the ass if it's really stuffed full - the large twill carry on obviously solves this issue with the wrap around zipper, but comes with the flap at the top which looks like it'd be an annoyance.

I'm also not sure how comfortable I'd be wearing a suit with the large twill carry-on over my shoulder, given the exterior zippered pockets. Those zippers (especially when new) can do some damage to finer clothing if you're not careful. This may or may not be an issue for you; I bought the medium travel in navy blue primarily so that I could have a single bag for overnight client visits.

I understand the frustration of waiting. I decided in November I wanted a navy 256. My family exchanges gifts for Christmas and there really wasn't anything else I wanted/needed in that price range, so I opted to let a family member buy it from BB during the sale + kicker timeframe. I kept an eye on it during the weeks leading up to the discount and it consistently showed in stock. Then, a day or two before the discount day, the availability changed to "Estimated Ship Date: 2/10/2014". So, still waiting. Almost wish I would have just bought it myself and paid a bit more to get it within a few days rather than wait almost two months.

Good things come to those who wait. But, sometimes it's too damn hard to wait.

Can someone explain to me why Filson do not make plain black bags? This is the only thing stopping me from buying >1k worth of product

I don't think anyone here are qualified to answer that. I don't like black, so it doesn't bother me.

I can't explain that, but black Filson bags just wouldn't make sense to me. My favorite is tan. If you want something perhaps a bit less casual/outdoorsy (not that a tan briefcase can't work just fine in a business setting), go for navy.

Whilst still being neutrals they just do not compare to black. Being the OCD person I am some clothes do not match up with tan or navy but everything automatically goes with black and that just bothers me. Alhough now that I look at the website again I see that they have a small and medium duffle both in black which is enormously tempting even though I would prefer the medium being a large and the fact that they are made from different materials

Edit: turns out they are both the same material they should offer a large duffle tin cloth

Do you guys have all your Filson stuff in the same color? I like the idea of mixing it up a bit. Currently have:

    Zippered tote in Otter Green
Medium Travel bag in Otter Green
Large Wheeled Duffle in Otter Green
    256 in Tan
    Small Duffle in Tan

Chose OT for the MTB and the LWD because they don't pick up dirt as easy and could be checked in if needed.

And I'm looking to pick up a medium field bag for camera gear.

Very good news (see below). Tough call on the 256 vs. 257. I've got a Mullholland Brothers bag roughly the same size as the 257 that I've been using for years. Since, most days, all I'm carrying is a laptop and few other small items, it's too big. But, I think the 257 would be great for when I travel for business and need to carry more items along with my laptop.

    Hi, there

Hello from Bangkok. I just got this one. I can't find any detail about this bag colour detail. All i know about this bag is the, small bag in Tin cloth , hardwood camo. Any idea?

    Thank you so much!

I don't mind paying a little more for your 256 if it's brown or navy.

Some collab between Filson and another brand most likely.

Looking to get a Filson of some sort for travelling.
When we do travel it's mostly by car, there is the odd flight to visit friends in the US from time to time, what I am not sure about is what to get.

Narrowed it down to these, if anyone has any input that would be much appreciated.

    Medium duffle bag

Large Twill carry on travel bag - I understand this will fit in the overhead of a plane, can anyone confirm?

I can't wait for my navy 256! It is arriving from brooks brothers tomorrow. I was split between navy and tan, but chose navy in the end because the tan seemed a little hipster. However, since my wardrobe consists of more earth tones than grays/navy, I might end up exchanging the navy for a tan. We'll see. I am excited nonetheless!

I never, ever would have made that association. Can't go wrong with navy, though. :p

I would think that's all the more reason to stick with Navy. Navy goes well with earthtones, but you don't leave the house clad head to toe in different shades of khaki.
