Beautiful GMT 2!! I was looking at a 1984 Pepsi (my birth year) but they still want crazy money for these timepieces, even ones that are as old as me now. Plus the tritium lume that was featured during that era is probably not the most affective, so it wouldn’t serve me as well. Still want one haha. Yours is superb though!
Thank you! I wanted the current one and was determined not to pay over retail. I had a really good AD and he came trough for me.

Proof positive that good Rolex AD’s exist. I have a good friend who I worked with at Ferrari (actually helped get him the job), he recently acquired a new GMT 2 Pepsi, but first had to buy 2 other Rolex Timepieces over the course of 2 years. My stringent budgeting methods would not allow that kind of practice, so I’ll stick with the Omega Speedmaster Pro. I’m aiming for either this year or next, and buying new from an AD. Looking forward to the experience.

After a job site visit I stopped by the nearest AD to get a closer look.

Wouldn’t you know it but after stating i didn’t have the scratch for the watch at this point, the salesman still wanted me to get it on wrist for my introduction. :)

Classic watch, the only omega I’d consider. Just don’t need a chrono.

Indeed! On the flip side, the GMT Pepsi is the only Rolex I’d consider…what a coincidence. Just can’t get enthused about anything else they offer. The history with Pan Am is just too cool, a true Pilots watch.

@GzStudio would appreciate this especially…what I have on wrist. I love this watch more than anything else I’ve owned to date.

That's the watch that started it for me. I still have it, just do not wear it anymore. I have gotten rid of almost all of my Rolex's as I wear an apple watch daily. I kept my 116600 sea dweller just because of the low production #'s. I'd like to get a 41mm gmt or a 43mm new sea dweller, but not as important anymore these days. Congrats on the watch and ambitions. I like Omega a lot, had a seamaster for a bit.

Thanks GZ! Wow that’s awesome!! It’s the watch that made me say adios to Seiko all together. Long story for another time. Sounds like quite a collection you had. I recall a no date Submariner…how’s my memory? :fonz:

Same, I love aviation, and the history of this watch. I’m not a collector just really love this piece. It was well worth the wait for me!

I still love Seiko, they have the best lume!

Most definitely!! The issue I had was 1 part bad watchmaking and 3 parts horrific customer service experience. In short I had to fight tooth and nail for them to repair/replace a defective movement in my Solar Arnie “Pepsi”, which had totally seized. I still had 2 years left on the warranty; adding insult to injury. Luckily the squeaky wheel got the grease, as they are fully covering the repair.

Fitted with a beautiful Horween Shell Cordovan Color #8 strap @M635Guy (cause i know he’s a fellow Ashland fan)

Love the ‘watch talk’. I have a couple of Rolex (2008 Milgauss, 1971 Exlporer II) in a safety deposit box, a recent Tudor Ranger on a strap for travel but this is the watch, I have worn the most over the years.

All of this activity from OG members on this thread has me smiling ear to ear.

Can I just say that I spent 20 minutes trying to reset my password just to let you guys know I still use my Smokey Bear watch and I’m not ashamed of its quartz movement. 😎 Long time away gents. I’ll be around.

To all the Red Wing fans here, I’m highly considering adding these to my work regiment soon. The Shop Moc 8079 in Hawthorne Abilene Roughout. Anybody have experience with this shoe or this leather?

@speedy611 and @TinMan3
Would love to hear what you both think since you are the resident Red Wing members

Wanted something I could stand in all day and also comfortable enough while I’m mobile, since most job sites I walk over a mile.

For cleaning and maintaining the roughout, I hear this brush does the job.

Also saw others applying this to help with driving away moisture.

I think Red Wing makes better and more comfortable boots than shoes. I have one pair of the shoes and they’re ok but not nearly as comfortable as my iron rangers.

I appreciate the feedback and welcome back! I’m still mulling it over. I’m leaning towards the “Mocxfords” (Stridewise term) because I take around 500 photos on each assignment, most in the crouching position, so I think any kind of boots would rub my ankles raw after a length survey. Plus on occasions, like when I inspect schools during summer break, I get to wear a nice pair of shorts, so I’d like something that pairs better. Still got some time to reconsider as I’m waiting till late winter/early spring.
