Born in the USA, raised in Manila, and now I'm back in the States for college. I always claim Filipino wherever I go though.

I'm curious, how many SFers are actually based in the Philippines? What's it like trying to style when it's so damn hot/everyone else is dressed so horribly/tackily? Someone told me that the Crocs shop in Serendra is the best selling crocs store in the world. Tangina ****!

Not flip, but I know how the words "chicken nut bread" can go together in a sentence, and I shop at Eagle Rock Plaza.

Aside from underwear and t-shirts, I buy almost all of my shoes and clothes online.

Really? It's a tiny 3mx10m store. It's always packed with customers, though. Many of them buy 3-4 pairs at a time.

Lol, I'd believe that. Manila's full of people with too much money and too little taste. Sneakers and hypebeast stuff is just getting big there so I can just imagine the kind of style disasters soon to come...

Also, anyone have any experience with DeFacto jeans, that bespoke denim shop in Mile Long? At first I thought they were just another Viktor-type place that catered to the flashy/tacky crowd but I saw that they got union specials on their multiply site, and that piqued my curiosity. Sent an email to the owner and he seems to know his **** about denim.

The proof, of course, is in the product. Anyone had a pair of jeans made by them? What do you guys think/have you heard? I chanced upon a few yards of cone mills selvage and I'm wondering whether or not they'd be able to do a good job with it. Let me know your thoughts.

Re: Defacto. They're very near where I work. I will probably drop by and check them out soon, just to satisfy my curiosity.

I'm usually the odd man out in public places for not wearing sneakers/crocs/flipflops.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. As soon as the word association "Filipino SFer" came up, his was the first name that popped into my mind.

I dated a Filippina for a few years. She was born in Quezon City but moved to the US when she was eight. I still have a hankerin' for lichon and Mang Tomas.

bbaquiran, have you been to Hawaii because I rarely hear anyone else use that term outside of the state.

Another Flip here btw. Which reminds me of something that happened in a sociology class I took four years ago. Some Japanese guy somehow made the connection between Filipinos and the song Game Over by Lil' Flip...what a fool.

Hehe, I forgot you. I remember seeing a SWD WAYWT post from you when I first joined SF and I thought -- before even seeing the picture -- "He's Filipino".

Happas can be pretty hot. I dated one a few years back. Happas can also be really annoying.

I've heard it in South Carolina.

What term? Happa? I'm hearing it all over these days. No one ever adds the second word though. Haole.
