Filene's Basement DC Update

I stopped at the Conn. Ave store today and they had a lot of nice stuff at 40% off - this may have been going on since the day after Thanksgiving. If you are a regular shopper, you probably got a 20% off coupon in the mail in the last week or so, and that can be used on top of the 40% discount.

I grabbed a great Belvest suit for $360. I also saw two Kiton 100% cashmere jackets, one a green with a rather unattractive pattern in a 44R, the other a nice wheat-colored herringbone in 41L. Both were marked $1599 so they would be about $750 or so with the discount and coupon. There were a few Borrelli jackets as well as some Brioni, Barbera, etc.

Not much in the way of shirts, although there were quite a few pairs of Borrelli pants marked at $135 which would be about $80 after the 40% discount.

I also stopped by the National Press store, but they had absolutely nothing. Didn't make it to Mazza Gallerie.

Bryce, good looking out! I'm about 3 weeks from my first born arriving (and a distinct dent in my shopping budget) and just got the 20% off. I could use a sport jacket (and some flannel pants).

Aren't they gonna be closing all of the Filene's? Or at least changing them to Macy's? First Jordan Marsh and Wannamaker's, then Filene's and Marshall Field's. The Macy's plague!

Filene's is done, but Filene's Basement is separate, and those stores will continue operating.
