I find the standard m65s like the one above, normally kind of boring. but that mcguyver one looked cool.. they are a supplier for the army and stuff. I have a feeling paying 165 for that jacket is a bit of a rip off... hmmm they also sell regular m65 jackets... http://www.acejackets.com/Alpha_Mili...cket_p/m65.htm

I used to have one of their M65s. The milspec M65s are cut too full for me to use as an everyday jacket, because they are intended to be worn with multiple layers underneath. If the McGyver was a little less busy I think I'd go for it.

Where do you find Belstaff at prices that don't require complicated private equity deals? Hell, where do you find Belstaff at all?

I was lucky enough to find a belstaff coat in a charity shop about a year and a half ago but I never had any luck finding them brand new. It's such a great coat too, very versatile and most importantly very good quality. I wouldn't mind finding out a little bit more information about it if anyone knows a site with lots of information on the different models etc? Probably a long shot but worth a try.

I like the Barbour jacket, Britalian. Looks like it has some nice features and nice shoulder, collar shape. I ended up with something from G-star. Not bad. It's a little on the militaristic side and it's not that warm for the really cold days. But, still gets some good use.

Opening soon in NYC, Madrid and Tokyo.
Yes, finding discounted items in non-sale time is difficult.
I'm waiting till January 1st. Either the New Racemaster or the Steve McQueen special. Yum yum.

anyone got recommendations for less military-ish, more hunting/work styled field jackets? Looking for something in heavy canvas.

Not heavy canvas, but how about the popular Rag & Bone waxed hunting jacket, discussed here and here?

The Nom De Guerre Field Jacket if: A) you can find it and B) you can afford it. I have any old Army one I'll sell you if you want the real thing.

I've really been wanting a filson mackinaw cruiser, but I just don't know about the fit, and my local retailers only stock size 40 and up; i need a 36. Anyway, filson got back to me today with measurements. The chest on a 36 measures 41" with a sleeve length of 24". The 38 measures 43" in the chest with a 24.5" sleeve. They've got a customizing service, but i don't think I want to pay 30% over retail.
