If you are in Chicago this week, take a trip to Oak street (right across from Despos) to meet some of the craftspeople from Hermès who are demonstrating their work. 11-6 until Wednesday March 16. Highly Recommended.

Leatherworkers, shirt makers, tie makers, jeweler, watchmaker, print artist, screen printer....

I believe they will stop in New York before heading home. Maybe long enough to make a green breast wallet.

My wife dragged me to this when it was in town. It was a lot more interesting than I expected.

I wonder if they will do that stuff at the Madison men's store. I'm staying at Times Square this week

Next stop is Washington DC.

These artisans are producing their work on the premises. The Shirtmaker was working on customers shirts.
I went twice and will go back tomorrow. mesmerized by the tie maker's technique. Watching them print a scarf before your eyes was amazing. One of Hermes saddle makers is constructing a saddle and the leather guy was making a Kelly bag. Four hours of labor to craft just the handle.
Very interesting event. Worth your time if you have any interest in the craft behind the product.

I'd love to go. I wonder if they would come to my home country.

Does it mean that you got a bespoke shirt from Hermes?

I saw that too, however I machine-wash my shirts. I asked the lady if she thought the hand-sewing around the armhole, which was so fine as to be invisible from the outside, would be too fragile for the machine and she scowled at me and practically spat. Hand wash only.

I stand corrected about the last stop- they go to DC March 25, not NY. I guess Foo scared them off.
