What's with the flares around the leading edges of the bonnet? They hit the nail on the head with the 355, 430 and 612, but I think they've missed the mark here (visually speaking).

wow you dont often find people that like the 430 and the 612

yeah i think the scaglietti is beautiful though

F430 is a lot better looking... 458 a little better performing.

    F430>458

Good clip, but by Clarkson's logic, every new Ferrari is the best car ever.

Not entirely. Indeed he does love Ferrari but when the 360 succeeded the 355 he was very critical and felt the 355 was a better car.

Ugh. An uglified Enzo. Or a wannabe Gallardo. (not talking performance, just looks)

What is going on with Ferrari's design team?

That's a really bad photo imo. The angle of the track and the way the picture was taken make it look "off." It looks much better in other photos. It also looks way better in red.

Sorry, I should've said they hit the nail on the head relative to the 458 [IMG].

Given the chance there are many cars I'd take over any of the prancing horses, but sadly it's purely academic as no amount of book-cooking could get me behind the wheel of one.

I think the 458 is very beautiful in a functional way. This car is all about aerodynamic packaging, and one has to consider the car in that context. From a purely aesthetic POV, I love the curves of the front and rear fenders, and the way the door's shape is integrated with them.

But if you ignore what this car is trying to do with its aero, then you've totally missed the point, and may start making inane comparisons to Lambos.

I just really dislike the massive side mirrors on the doors. Otherwise, I think it looks great, though I wouldn't call it beautiful.

I never owned Ferrari ,so what do I know.
However, visually this car is a disaster.
Hood does not fit properly and the horrible black space behind B-pillar is vomit worthy.

I loved the Enzo and the F430, while the Scaglietti makes me sick, so I appreciate functional beauty. What bothers me about the 458 is the stuff that appears more ornamental and complex for no apparent reason whatsoever. The two things I hate the most are the L-shaped headlights and the abrupt transition between the B-pillars and the rear haunches. The latter is particularly vexing because it appears to mimic the look of the folding-hardtop California when the 458 is a coupe and the California's design was very much a compromise particular to its context.

The overall exterior shape doesn't bother me one bit, just its details. The rear fenders/'haunches' are particularly attractive.

Then, of course, there is the interior ripped straight from a recent-model Honda (not a compliment). Blegh. There is nothing functional or even functionally representative about all those bulbous, swoopy forms.
