Have any of you bought shoes from Ferrante? I stopped in the shop today and they look pretty nice. Any reviews on quality would be much appreciated.

The shop is located in the same little alcove where Merolla is, just off of Via Calabritto in between the waterfront and the Piazza del Martiri.

He said they can do made-to-measure on any shoe, any color and they also do a beautiful 4 string norvegese welt that is beautifully made by hand. (All shoes are made by hand in Napoli.)

I'd love to get a pair and report back to the forum- but I like to do my research first!

Thanks gents.

Ok- thanks for that. I will look into Maccariello.
Do you feel that the quality isn't high enough to merit the prices?

He had a wholecut calf for E300.

Thanks again!

No, they are great quality, but they were cheaper when. They were only a factory. Since now they have their own atelier, and in that expensive location, you will have to pay for it. How much did they quote you for "su Misura" and did they explain the process?

To my eye the quality was quite good- but I am not a shoe hound and I only have Ferragamo, Mario Campanile and Allen Edmonds in my collection. I don't know if what I see as being quality is based on a limited view.

To your question; We only talked about getting a shoe in my size and then if needed they would take the shoe apart and remake it to fit just right. He also said I could get any color I wanted for the same price. So for adjusting fit as needed and any color I wanted, the price is the same as the shoe in the store- E300.

We did not discuss bespoke options- just adjusting a stock cut shoe if necessary and my choice of colors.

Thanks for entertaining my questions Marco!
