Posted this to the buying-selling by mistake

I just received a used pair of ferragamo - lace-ups, split toe, high vamp, Norveghese stitching (whatever you call it - double row of stitching along a fairly wide sole). Insole has the fabric label a la Tramezza, whilst sole says 'Lavorazione a mano'. Would this be a sort of pre-Tramezza tramezza?

If these are the shoes I am thinking of, I have pair. In my opinion the BEST and most comfortable shoes from Ferragamo that I possess. Better leather and fit than the Tramezzas. If they are a 10.5 and you are interested in selling them, please let me know.

some present tramezza shoes i've seen have "lavorazione a mano" marked on the sole. btw, "lavorazione a mano" means "working/worked by hand".

The Tramezza monks I have contain the fabric label inside and Lavorazione written on the sole, but no "a mano".

The mainline Ferragamos I have have no fabric label and Lavorazione Originale on the sole.

Don't know if that info clarifies or confuses the matter!

Wow, I really like those. Real manly shoes. According to the current Mens Vogue, Ferragamo made a shoe a few years back to commemerate the Ferregamos that Andy Warhol wore. They were burgandy wholecuts. Ferregamo called this new model "Tramezza". It seems that they then made Tramezza the line name, not just for a specific model. Maybe yours are pre-Tramezza Tramezzas.

Those were a limited edition shoe sold a few years back. Probably the best Ferragamo ever made. They came in black and sort of a maple color. I have a pair in maple which have been antiqued. They are one of my favorite pairs of shoes. In fact I have them with me on my trip right now.

Norwegians with a short lake like that are an Italian classic, nearly every maker does a version.

The model name for the pair you are referring is "Lancer." It is one of only a few select pairs made by Ferragamo with the "Lavorazione A Mano" enscribed on the bottom out sole. The only other one I know of to date is called the "Office." It was a double gancini loafer with the gancini half wrapped in leather. If you own the "Lancer" consider yourself lucky as it is hard to find. Every now and again one will show up on Ebay. I sold one a few weeks back on there. As far as I'm concerned, they top Tramezzas but very few know of them so everyone considers Tramezzaa the top.

I'm assuming this is the pair you are referring to? Ferragamo's highest end line. They don't make lavorazione a mano any longer (good find on your part). I attached a photo found at www.shoearchives.com of the model you are referring to.
