Does anyone have these in a lighter shade of brown with extensive antiquing (photo makes shoes appear darker)? I recently bought a pair cheap (used but excellent) and I was expecting the Auburn color that's currently being offered but instead received a lighter brown nicely antiqued...I actually like the color and was pleasantly surprised. I guess I'm just trying to figure out if this was done by Ferragamo in prior year models or if it was done after purchase by original owner. Also, I'm having a hell of a time getting a belt - not even exact but at least in same spectrum...

A lovely shoe... You're right, the stock item is an Auburn color; to my eyes, the antiqueing on that particular color looks a bit odd... Most likely the shoe you have was a special order -- they allow you to choose style, color, etc.

When you say they look "a bit odd" do you mean unsightly or just unusual for Ferragamo? Although I was looking for [and expecting] the darker Auburns, I must say I am happy with these for some reason...

To my eyes, it just didn't look like "authentic" antiqueing; it looked "processed" and fake... That said, I don't think it's an unattractive shoe color. Of course, it's not really fair to compare it to the kind of antiqueing that you'll find in EG or Kiton shoes.

I'll dissent on these. I find the captoe odd on these as it rolls back into the shoe and the antiquing is lacking in person.

I despise that captoe's seam.

They currently have these at Saks, but I haven't seen them anywhere else. Not even at Ferragamo in Beverly Hills.

MLR, for what it's worth, I've seen these in person and ordered them for myself. Antiqued shoes are not usually my thing, but I agree with you that there is something about this style that's worthwhile. They remind me of the Andy Warhol pair in Men's Vogue a few months back -- the ones that were paint-spattered and well-worn, which he had worn every day for who knows how long.

Anyway, I don't think there's anything odd about the seam, the color, or anything else. The picture, if I may say, doesn't quite do justice to the actual shoe, and that may be what people are reacting to. If you like them, wear them and be happy you (presumably) got a good price.

As for the belt, I think these shoes are inherently casual, or at least somewhat casual, which to me means you don't have to be matchy-matchy and you have some freedom to pick out a belt that flows with the overall look. Personally, I plan to go with dark brown and a silver buckle.

Did you order these at Saks? I didn't see them on Saks' website, but that really means nothing. I paid a buck and change for the Fiorenzo's and they had already had Topy on the soles....they were used, but still excellent. I've been wearing a dark brown belt, but I'd like to be a little closer in color - not exact, just in the same ballpark...somewhere between chestnut and med. brown.

Yes, I ordered them at Saks. I saw them at the store, but they didn't have my size, and they're not anywhere online, as far as I've been able to tell. I'm supposed to get them on Wednesday, so I'll repost if I come up with a better belt solution.

I feel your pain on the belt color, though. I got a beautiful pair of Ferragamo shoes in a pumpkin color called "Naturale Calf," but I didn't care for the matching belt they offered. So I've been stuck trying to find ways to conceal my belt when I wear it. It's been a lot of polo shirts and well-buttoned sportcoats ...

Mystery solved. Ferragamo only makes the one (darker) shade of brown. The shoes you received, MLR, have either been worn enough or put out on display long enough to naturally develop that weathered look. There's nothing fake or artificial about it.

The Ferragamo rep I asked about this said that if you want to preserve the weathered look, use neutral shoe polish or ask your shoe repair tech to do the same.

Thanks for the info....the color is so different though that I almost suspect someone may have had them lightened (professionally or otherwise). I think I may do the reverse and have them darkened to a deep brown [if I can find a cobbler to do it]...
