This has probably been done to death but I couldn't find it.

Chukka was a clear favourite of mine but recently I've been hankering over Derby boots and Chelsea's. I have three pairs of Chukkas and one Chelsea and one Oxford but no derbies so that should be my next purchase but a pair of RMWs Chelsea's have caught my eye so I need to have a look

Another problem is I work in construction and rarely get to wear any of my nice shoes for the fear of them getting stolen from my locker. So I seem to be more of a collector than a wearer

OP already has 3 pairs of chukkas though.
What kinds of outfits are you planning to wear with this hypothetical pair of boots?

Strictly casual. Will be worn with jeans. I hardly wear chinos anymore. The only time I might wear them is on holiday when its too hot for denim.

But this thread is not just about my next purchase but also to see what's popular among SF ers

What's popular among SFers may not be what works with your own look. For example, dress boots are popular but aren't really ideal with jeans.

Nothing against the RMW chelseas -- they're great -- but maybe a little too close to what you already own. I think a pair of derby boots would be good. I'd suggest something along the lines of an Alden Indy boot or a Viberg 2030 Service Boot.

My favorite is a Chelsea. Comfortable, especially in suede, and easy on/off.

My favourite is the half brogue, whether as an Oxford or as a boot. All the lovely details of the full brogue, but with the neater style of the captoe which makes shining it easier and more elegant.

I'm generally more a fan of derby boots, but I also like chukkas, but chukkas have the disadvantage of always being plain, which isn't a bad thing inherently, but I could have a half brogue derby boot, whereas that'd look dumb on a chukka.

I would recommend you to have a look to the following thread: 1084 pages and going on what SF “boot lovers” are wearing, from different origins, styles and budgets:

Additionally, a “younger” thread specifically on chukkas and desert boots:

Thanks, I actually subbed to these threads but didn't think of them when I posted this one. Going by those, derbies are very popular, chukkas not as much :D

Well, even though I own a good amount of derby boots, I enjoy the versatility of my chukka boots, as you will find some of them here.

On the other hand, no “oxford” boots as nowadays my outfits are mostly casual and I believe that they don't go with them.

Nice collection of chukkas there. I have the Pimlico and Ryder too. I was considering a pair of green chukkas at one point but wasn't brave enough
