Gentlemen (and any ladies present who want to chime in),

What is your favourite style shoe? By which I don't mean the kind of shoe (e.g. oxford, derby, blucher), but rather which decorative style (broguing, cap toes, split toes, etc) do you like the most?

Please also indicate what kind of shoe you like as well with your pairing. For instance, if you like a long-winged blucher, please indicate that.

For my choice: I am going with the half brogue, which has all the beautiful serrations and perforations of the full brogue, but with all the advantages of a cap toe. It is more elegant than the winged full brogue, easier to mirror shine (by having a definite cut off for the toe area), and generally looks spectacular. It also still looks good at night, whereas full brogues often feel a bit more like an exclusively day time shoe, though I still wear full brogues during the evening in casual settings, and I am sure some gentlemen would be aghast that I wear half brogues after the sun is down, too.

I prefer my half-brogues to be oxfords, though I'd take a half brogue in a derby for boots, though my only half brogued boot is in an oxford boot.
