I'm partial to Bruce Springsteen for sheer kick-ass grittiness and I'm partial to Engelbert Humperdink just because I have a soft spot for that whole Las Vegas lounge scene. Ray Charles was no slouch in his heydey either.

For some reason, I value the singers who write their own songs more than the great interpreters, which is why I'm ranking Robert Earl and Willie on seemingly level ground with the Chairman.

For voice alone, I have to mention Robert Goulet and Richard Harris (particularly Camelot) for clarity and tone. But - I don't reach for their works all that often.

Mrs.T digs Lyle, but I just haven't gotten into him yet.
