I suppose I mean continental Europe, but we could include any decent Brit flicks ...
Italian, French, Spanish, German etc

Recently saw The Passenger on DVD, since Nicholson let it out from his clutches. Classic Antonioni touches with an A-list Hollywood actor getting snuffed out at the end : quite a refreshing change.
And Felini's 8 1/2 too: great style, images, acting.

France: Truffaut's 400 Blows
Spain : most Almodovar
Poland: All Kieslowski esp. 'Three Colours Trilogy' and movie version of 'Short Film About Killing'

Cache (Agree that it is like Hitchcock, but creepier)

Wenders did a great job with the original. There was a sequel apparently, never seen it.

Right, how about a list - the majority of my DVDs are of japanese cinema, but I have a number of "European" films on DVD (close second)

Seventh Seal
Leon
Irreversible
Vampyr
Das Boot

(there are piles more I cannot think of right now for some reason)

I love the films of Jean Pierre Jeunet: Amilie, City of Lost Children, Long Engagement, and The Lover!

I don't know if I've seen anything by Greenaway other than Prospero's Books, which was horrid (imho, obviously). I had high expectations for that one and was sorely disappointed (although if you closed you eyes and just listened to Gielgud reciting from The Tempest it got a lot better).
I do agree about Betty Blue.

The sequel was called Far Away So Close, it focused more on the angel Cassiel....it was ok, but not necessary to see. It didnt have the poetry of Wings. I'm also a big fan of Irreversible, good choice.

What was the name of the prior film he directed... was it I stand alone? I liked that one too. Edit: Seul contre tous Forgot to mention Man bites dog Edit 2: Jason, seen Paris, Texas? That was rather disconcertingly melancholic. I liked that one too.
