I suppose I mean continental Europe, but we could include any decent Brit flicks ...
Italian, French, Spanish, German etc
Recently saw The Passenger on DVD, since Nicholson let it out from his clutches. Classic Antonioni touches with an A-list Hollywood actor getting snuffed out at the end : quite a refreshing change.
And Felini's 8 1/2 too: great style, images, acting.
France: Truffaut's 400 Blows
Spain : most Almodovar
Poland: All Kieslowski esp. 'Three Colours Trilogy' and movie version of 'Short Film About Killing'
