Great music and fantastic costumes..

I would think you are a fan of Lino Ventura. He was generally wonderfully dressed, even as a world-weary cop in Dernier Domicile Connu, where the credits say, "Costumes par Cifonelli." He was built, as we say in English, like a brick shithouse.

I haven't quite got Peter Wyngard's je ne sais pas...

As to what I would wear, however anachronistic is almost any outfit from the 1980's TV adaptation of Campion:

Good choices here.

Definitely Jason King, Danger Man, and the Avengers.

Old TV:

The Baron
The Man From UNCLE

Two French films:

Subway
Diva

One more 80s film:

Brazil (you think peak-lapel SB 3-pieces are new?)

One classic:

The Man in the White Suit

Seconded. Although I prefer the blue pinstripe.

^ Interesting- in the 50s (and some of his greatest movies) Cary had his suits made by Quintino in Beverly Hills- all 3 button sack suits without vents...I have never been able to find out anything about the tailor...Anyone have any info??
