Okay Lads,

We all know the usual suspects, but does anyone have a favorite men's clothing store in Washington, DC?

Shoes are easier than clothes in my opinion; SkyValet and Alden are where I have gotten most of my post-SF shoes.

As for clothing, I tend to head to one of two places:
1. The Buyers and Sellers forum here on styleforum, and
2. Union Station to catch the Acela to NYC.

I have had such a consistently annoying time at the Brooks Brothers in DC that I'd rather go to the Manhattan store than support them.

If you are headed down 95, Franco's in Richmond is a great place to check out for clothes and shoes (especially Ron Rider boots...)

There are several places I have not really checked out for various reasons here in DC, so I should not say there is nothing here. I am just up in New York a decent amount and take advantage of that.

I hate the nitwits at the Alden store. Skyvalet, on the other hand, I like.

Does the Alden store ever have a sale? I pass it all the time and I think I've only seen boat shoes on sale once.

WM Fox and Co. is fantastic for ties and they have Samuelsohn suits as well. However, I think their tailoring is pretty poor.

Walk into George De Paris and ask if you can try on one of the President's suits.

J. Press is worth a look (19th + L st.). Also Sky Valet, Everard's Clothings, and Field's Tailors (some nice ties + cuff links in addition to the full tailoring menu) on Wisconsin Ave just above Georgetown.

If you are in the neighborhood or Georges De Paris or Wm Fox, stop by Draper's Tobacco.

the nitwits at the alden store, huh? I've only ever had excellent service there... only ever spoken to the woman who owns it, she is extremely helpful and nice.

sky valet though, pretty 'meh'... very hole in the wall and its far away from everything else in georgetown

farinellis is the best tho!!

Sherman Pickey is good for the classic preppy look. While you're there, walk down a few blocks and get a great cup of latte and a gelato from Dolcezza.

When I'm in DC I routinely visit Sky Valet, BB on Connecticut, NM, Saks, and RL.
