I have a favorite sports coat which is slowly showing its age.

The jacket is an Armani Collezioni sports coat that fits like a glove and the look has gotten me more... umm... yeah..

Anywho, would it be better to buy another jacket in the same line of jackets realizing that construction blows? Or alternatively, I was thinking of taking the jacket to a tailor to recreate. How much would that set me back? In NYC, any tailors I should talk to?

Thanks in advance.

If you're happy with the time it's taken to show its age, I suggest replacing it like for like. Armani may not be as durably constructed as some other makers, but in the final analysis if you're happy with the product and its rate of deterioration, just get another one.

Alternatively, if you feel it's aging too quickly then you may be better served by getting a bespoke jacket instead. But it's unlikely you'll get a truly exact copy as things like amount of canvassing and technique of stiching can potentially make otherwise similar-looking garments feel slightly different to wear.

I want to change some small things like a peak lapel and working buttons.

Fairly close, if you allow them to disassemble the jacket.

Take it to a custom tailor and bespoke that b#@#@ and it will be constructed, and of better material than lousy Armani.

Depending on the color/material/fit it may be hard to find an exact dup in the RTW market.
